The NOMAct Academic Grant is open to all active NOMAS and NOMA student members enrolled in an accredited architecture degree program who meet the following criteria:
Eligibility Requirements
Active NOMAS or NOMA student membership at the time of application
Currently enrolled in an architecture degree program at the college or university level
Full-time student status as defined by the institution
Undergraduate or graduate architecture student (1st year through final year)
Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and engagement within the architecture profession and/or community
The Academic Grant is intended to assist students with expenses related to their architectural education, including studio supplies, technology, software, books, printing, model-making materials, and other academic needs.

May include academic, professional, research, community-based, or personal design work
Resume
Include education, leadership roles, extracurricular involvement, work experience, honors, awards, and community engagement
Letter of Interest (250–500 words)
Please address the following:
What should the scholarship committee know about you?
Describe your academic goals, career aspirations, and interest in architecture and design.
Highlight examples of leadership, service, mentorship, or involvement with NOMAS, NOMA, AIAS, community organizations, or other extracurricular activities.
Explain how receiving this grant would support your educational journey.
Provide a brief description of how you plan to use the grant funds (e.g., studio supplies, books, software, technology, printing, travel, tuition, housing, or other educational expenses).
Selection Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
Academic achievement and commitment to architectural education
Quality and creativity of submitted portfolio work
Leadership, service, and community engagement
Demonstrated involvement with NOMAS, NOMA, or related organizations
Strength of the letter of interest
Financial and educational impact of the grant
Grant Award Conditions
Recipients agree to the following:
Use of Funds
Grant funds must be used for educational purposes that directly support the recipient's academic success and professional development in architecture or related design disciplines.
Examples include:
Studio and model-making supplies
Books and educational materials
Software subscriptions and digital tools
Printing and presentation expenses
Computer hardware or technology upgrades
Conference or workshop registration fees
Tuition or academic fees
Recipient Acknowledgment
Within one academic semester of receiving the grant, recipients must submit:
A brief written update (250–500 words) describing how the funds were used and the impact on their educational experience
At least two photographs documenting academic work, projects, or activities supported by the grant
Promotion and Communications
By accepting the grant, recipients grant NOMAct permission to feature their name, photograph, academic institution, portfolio excerpts, and written testimonials in chapter communications, newsletters, annual reports, website content, and social media platforms.
NOMAct may recognize grant recipients and their academic accomplishments through chapter programming and promotional materials.
