NOMAct Conference Grant Eligibility

The NOMAct Conference Grant will cover Conference registration only and is open to all active NOMA members residing in Connecticut who meet the following criteria:

Eligibility Requirements

  • Active member of NOMAct and/or National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA)

  • Resident of Connecticut or professionally affiliated with a Connecticut-based architecture, design, engineering, construction, planning, or related organization

  • Student, emerging professional, designer, architect, allied professional, educator, or industry partner committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and excellence within the design and construction professions

  • Must be registered to attend the NOMA National Conference if selected as a grant recipient


Professional licensure is not required to apply.


Application Criteria & Requirements

Applicants must submit the following materials as one complete PDF file (maximum 15 MB) in the order listed below:

Required Submission Materials

  1. Headshot

    • Recent professional-quality photograph

  2. Must be a  Current NOMAct Membership

    • Current membership receipt, confirmation email, or membership verification showing active status and membership date

  3. Resume or Curriculum Vitae

    • Include education, professional experience, leadership activities, community engagement, and relevant accomplishments

  4. Personal Statement (500 words maximum)

    • Describe:

      • Your interest in attending the NOMA National Conference

      • How conference participation will support your professional, academic, or leadership development

      • How you plan to apply and share what you learn with the NOMAct community

  5. Conference Registration Confirmation (Once granted the scholarship or if available at the time of application)

    • Proof of registration for the NOMA National Conference


Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Demonstrated commitment to NOMA's mission and values

  • Leadership potential and community engagement

  • Professional or academic development goals

  • Quality and thoughtfulness of the personal statement

  • Potential impact of conference participation on the applicant and the broader NOMAct community


Grant Conditions

To ensure recipients fully benefit from this opportunity and contribute to the visibility of NOMAct, grant recipients must agree to the following requirements:

Conference Participation
  • Commit to active participation throughout the NOMA National Conference

  • Attend conference programming, networking opportunities, and NOMAct-related events whenever possible


Documentation of Experience

Submit the following within three weeks of the conference:

  • A minimum of 10 high-quality photos documenting your conference experience

    • JPG, JPEG, or PNG format

    • Maximum 15 MB per submission

  • Optional short video clips highlighting conference participation

    • Maximum 15 MB per submission


Post-Conference Engagement
  • Provide a short written reflection (250–500 words) summarizing key takeaways and lessons learned

  • Participate in a NOMAct event, presentation, social media feature, or member spotlight to share your conference experience with the local chapter community


Promotion and Communications

By accepting the grant, recipients grant NOMAct permission to use submitted photos, videos, reflections, and testimonials for chapter communications, marketing, website content, newsletters, annual reports, and social media platforms.

NOMAct may feature recipients and their affiliated firms, schools, or organizations in conference-related communications and promotional materials.
